Riding lessons are available from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., seven days a week excluding holidays and inclement weather days. Multiple instructors are available in two arenas, both lighted, one covered. Horse day camps are also available on track outs and summer breaks.
Horseback riding lessons:
Hour and half hour lessons available for all levels of riders. All lessons are private lessons unless group lessons are requested. Lessons taught at Saddletree Stables in Willow Spring. Will travel to your barn to teach lessons too.
Private English, Western, or Saddleseat riding lessons available by appointment with Donnie Stephenson. Mr. Stephenson has had a lifetime of experience with and love for horses, having bred and trained Tennessee Walking Horses and American Saddlebreds for many years at Saddletree. Private riding lessons are conducted for $40 an hour. Donnie is available evenings or weekends. Adults and children over the age of six are welcome. Call today and let's get started. Michelle has been riding and showing horses at the local, state, and regional levels for over 15 years. Horse Show opportunities and coaching are available to all students. Sabrina has been riding over ten years, and has competed on all different levels. She competed in A and C rated shows, as well as participated in the 4h program. Sabrina rides in hunt seat english style. She is also on the Campbell University Equestrian Team. Sabrina teaches anywhere from beginner lessons to advanced hunter jumper lessons.
Juliann Gilchrist is experienced in both English hunt seat and western riding. While in college, she competed on Mount Holyoke College’s nationally ranked varsity hunter seat and western equestrian teams, with her teams consistently ranked top 5 in the country. She and her horse recently moved to Raleigh and began teaching lessons at Saddletree Stables. She is available for hunt seat hunter/jumper lessons as well as western pleasure and western horsemanship lessons.
Karen has ridden and trained with Hunter/Jumpers since she was a teenager. A graduate of Colorado State University with a BS in Equine Science, she began her professional career as a Breeding Manager of European Warmbloods for a stable in Brentwood, NY. She also taught at the Polo Club Equestrian Center in Boca Raton, FL. Karen recently moved to Angier from Apex after her two sons moved out; one is attending NCSU and the other is in the US Navy. She currently owns two horses, Smokey and Strawberry. Karen is available by appointment for lessons weekdays 10am-6pm and Sundays and welcomes beginner through intermediate English riders.
